Back in 2004 when Jason and Alecia Brown first bought the Moppity vineyard they believed that the holy trinity of wine regions in Southern NSW were Hilltops, Tumbarumba and Canberra. So in 2019 when they started thinking of a name for their newly purchased Canberra vineyard they wanted something that would highlight that Canberra is the centre of a unique trio, where they would represent all three. Soon after they moved into the house at the Canberra vineyard, Alecia began noticing a really bright star out of their cathedral window, over the Brindabellas. It turns out it’s not one star but a constellation, named Atria for its three brightest stars. Three bright stars? That’s the Hilltops, Tumbarumba and Canberra trifecta!! That’s why they’ve named the Canberra vineyard Atria and their new range, that includes exciting wines from all three regions, Atrius.

Piedmont, ITALY

Dedicated to Bruno Rivetti, an immediate ancestor of the family, Cà di Bruno wines come from the Barbaresco and Barolo regions of Piedmont, Italy. The Rivetti family grows Barbera, Nebbiolo, Moscato and other indigenous varieties over 25 hectares on all certified organic vineyards. The annual production is about 100,000 bottles, mainly divided between Barbaresco and Barbera d’Alba. The plots are grouped around three farmhouses: Froi, Garassino and Palazzina. The winery located on the Serraboella hill, one of the most important areas for the production of Barbaresco. Since 2009 no pesticides or herbicides have been used, only the use of natural fertilizers, such as mixing organic cow manure with secondary products leftover from fermentation. The manual collection of worms in spring that feed on the buds, compromising production is also another hands on approach to sustainability in the vineyard. Ca di Bruno take pride in vine health and vine management, vine age varies from 35 to 75 years old with each vintage having limits on yields per hectare to maximize the grape quality, the terroir and production areas.

Cantina Danese is located in Roncà, in the Soave DOC and Monti Lessini Durello DOC areas. A special selection of Tempranillo coming from the winery’s favourite vineyard in El Provencio, Spain. Sitting at an elevation of 700m, the vineyard is home to 30 year old bush vines that provide outstanding quality year after year. Central Otago, NZ

Chard Farm operates five vineyards in the Gibbston Valley and Lowburn/Parkburn subregions of Central Otago. Each of the vineyards is unique and provides distinctive and premium fruit.

Central Otago is the only grape growing region in New Zealand with a truly mild continental type climate, with a large diurnal temperature range, which is known to be beneficial for colour development and stability in Pinot Noir. Also the resulting low relative humidity and rainfall results in low fungal disease incidence and therefore minimal spraying - no problems with harvest pressure due to botrytis incidence.

McLaren Vale, SA

Celebrating their centenary in 2012, d'Arenberg is one of the most significant wineries in McLaren Vale. In 1912 Joseph Osborn, a teetotaler and director of Thomas Hardy and Sons, purchased the well established Milton Vineyards in the hills just north of the townships of Gloucester and Bellevue, now just known as McLaren Vale.

In 1943 Frank's son Francis d'Arenberg, universally known as "d'Arry", returned from school, age 16, to help his ill father run the business, eventually assuming full management of d'Arenberg in 1957. d'Arry bottled the first of the famous diagonal red stripe labelled wines two years later.

d'Arenberg's wines of the 1960's gained immediate cult status amongst imbibers and judges. One Cabernet Sauvignon won a Jimmy Watson Trophy at the 1969 Royal Melbourne Wine Show and another Grenache - based wine was awarded 7 trophies and 29 gold medals from Australian capital city wine shows. It is understandable that by the 1970's d'Arenberg Wines had become very fashionable and had gained significant national and international profiles in less than 20 years.

Enter the fourth generation, d'Arry's son Chester d'Arenberg Osborn. After graduating from Roseworthy College and touring other Australian and European wine regions, Chester took over the reins as Chief Winemaker in 1984. He immediately set about rejuvenating the old cellars and l9th century vineyards. He invested in new oak, refrigeration and lots of small stainless steel tanks which resulted in immediate white dividends with his Dry Dam Riesling, the Broken Fishplate Sauvignon Blanc, Olive Grove Chardonnay and botrytis affected Noble Riesling all winning gold medals and trophies at wine shows.

100 years on, it is not surprising that with the "Red Stripe" in their blood, d'Arry and Chester's viticultural and oenological talents have ensured d'Arenberg has continued to win critical acclaim, numerous trophies and national and international awards, none more so than in recent years. d'Arenberg is continuing to produce wines that are a credit to both the winery and the region.

Delamere Vineyards is one of Tasmania's longest running family owned and operated wine estates, focused on producing distinguished sparkling (Methode Traditionelle) and still wines from the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay varieties. Nestled amongst the cool maritime slopes of Pipers River, in northeastern Tasmania, the vineyard was first established in1982 placing it amongst the oldest vineyards in the region. The region of Pipers Brook in the north east of Tasmania enjoys a significant climatic advantage that is unique in Australia, that of a very low variability of maximum temperature. This stability is born from a unique set of geographical features, the hot northerly winds are cooled by the waters of Bass Strait, while the cool southerlies gain heat as they cross the island. This, combined with cool, relative temperatures and significant sunshine hours make for ideal conditions to retain delicate aromas. The frosty and sometimes wild conditions of winter give way to clear, crisp, blue sky days through the growing season, allowing the fruit to ripen slowly and evenly, assuring a lingering acidity essential to producing premium cool climate varietals.

The Burgundy based De Perriere is owned by Boisset, a family company ranked amongst the largest five wine producers in France. The flagship Cremant de Bourgogne is remarkably similar to Champagne in both its production process and varietal make-up. Pale straw with a fresh green gold hue, this Sparkling Non Vintage Cuvée displays fresh vinous fruit characters on the nose with a light yeastiness. The palate is soft and fruity, leading to a crisp natural acid finish.

The fruit was harvested at its peak of freshness to give the wine bright and vibrant characters. To ensure a fine palate structure only free run juice is used and this is then cold fermented to preserve the natural fruit aroma and flavour. Edmond Théry was a French economist and sparkling wine lover. He decided to spend the majority of his time in wine production (Late 1800’s). To ensure the highest quality possible, the cellar has been dug ten meters underground and it became the reference in the region. After the death of Edmond Théry in 1937, his sons and grandsons initiated a toll manufacturing sparkling wines production. During the 80’s the company started to experiment emerging technologies of sparkling wines such as the Charmat Method.

Graeme and Suzanne Lunney conceived the idea for Four Winds in 1997, planting the first vines in 1998, moving to the property full-time in 1999, and making the first vintage in 2000. Daughter Sarah looks after events and promotions, and youngest daughter Jaime, complete with a degree in forensic biology, has joined husband Bill in the winery. She brings with her several years experience with the former Kamberra winery, and three vintages in the Napa Valley. This tingling fresh, sparkling prosecco is seductively delicious with its aromas of citrus fruit and exotic fruits. One sip and you’re sold. It consists of the glera grape. The bubbles are created during the so-called second fermentation. When the grapes are harvested, a normal, dry white wine is first made. Once it is ready, this still wine with sugar and yeast is put in a tank. The yeast gets to work with the sugar and together they form alcohol and carbon dioxide. Because this process takes place in a closed vessel, the carbon dioxide cannot escape and you get a wine with bubbles.

Friuli, ITALY

Le Monde lies between the banks of the Livenza and Meduna rivers, close to the border between the provinces of Treviso and Pordenone in Friuli Grave. The winery headquarters, built in the eighteenth century maintains the architectural characteristics of the time. Originally property of the Pistoni family, the wine farm together with the vineyards was acquired by Alex Macc an in 2008. Alex is now the owner and winemaker.

Alicante, SPAIN

In the 16th and 17th century Fondillon was one of the favourite wines of the Monarch’s of Europe, including Louis

XIV the King of France (also known as Louis the Great and The Sun King) for which these wines are named

in honour of. Louis XIV demanded Fondillon be served on all of his cakes and it was famed across aristocracy

throughout Europe. Sadly, there are only ten wineries left authorised to make and bottle wine classified as Fondillon today, controlled closely by Vinos Alicante Denominacion de Origen. The ‘Luis XIV’ Fondillón Vermut are the product of an exciting partnership created by David Carbonell founder of Vins del Comtat and the current descendants of two, old winemaking families: Ferrero Valdés and Ballester, located in Cañana, in the Alto Vinalopó region of Alicante. The Colección de Toneles Centenarios (CTC) is a unique and fascinating story originating from a surprise discovery of an extraordinary treasure: “a Fondillón barrel room, asleep for 60 years” which contained 25 barrels of Fondillón dating from the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries. The CTC partnership came to fruition based on a mutual philosophy to preserve these ‘fondillones’ as an important part of their regional heritage and to breathe new life into the historic tradition of Fondillón wines and winemaking of this Mediterranean region.

MadFish range of fine West Australian wines are produced by Howard Park from grapes grown in the cool South-West region of Margaret River and the Great Southern. MadFish are wines with an emphasis on enjoyment and drinkability. They are for people who enjoy the pleasures of life: family, friends, food and wine. The MadFish label was first released in 1992 with the MadFish Premium White, soon followed by the MadFish Premium Red in 1993. A barrel-maker born in Chateauneuf-du-Pape will eventually think of filling his barrels. It came to no surprise when the Bouachon family, barrel-makers who had already been selecting grapes to produce wine for others, decided to fill their own barrels in 1898. Maison Bouachon developed its passion for terroir while seeking the utmost in quality. Close relations were established with growers from one generation to the next. Beaujolais, FRANCE

Beaujolais-Villages AOC, the intermediate category in terms of classification, covers 39 villages in the Haut Beaujolais, the northern part of the region accounting for a quarter of production. It is a wine made from the red Gamay grape, and vinified by carbonic maceration, a winemaking technique in which whole grapes are fermented in a carbon dioxide rich environment prior to crushing. Benoit Thorin founded the Maison Thorin in 1843, the 40 year old vineyard is situated between Château de Montmelas and the river Rivolet, and is today owned and tended to by the Boisset family.

Coonawarra, SA

The Lynn family have been residents of the Penola - Coonawarra district for over four generations, starting out as Store-Keepers and then graduating into grazing. The property on which Majella now stands was originally owned by Frank Lynn and bought by his nephew, George, in 1960 for Merino wool production.

Majella now has 61ha under vine and makes some of the finest wines in Coonawarra. Famed for their reds (Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Merlot), they have also gained a reputation for the 'Malleea' (their acclaimed Super-premium blend). McLaren Vale, SA

Since 1979, family owned Maxwell Wines, with its forty acre estate vineyard, has built a reputation for producing hand made, rich and robust reds that combine exquisite fruit quality with structure and finesse. HILLTOPS

The Hilltops wine region is North West of Canberra on the Great Dividing Range, centred around the town of Young in Southern NSW. Hilltops is rapidly emerging as one of the most exciting viticulture regions in Australia. The high altitude, cool to moderate climate and dry summer and autumn provides excellent ripening conditions. This along with the gravelly, free-draining soils, enables the production of wines with great intensity of flavour and finesse. The first vines were planted in the 1860s but it’s only recently that the area’s true potential has begun to crystallise. TUMBARUMBA

Set in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains, Tumbarumba is the coldest viticultural region on mainland Australia, and is set in a stunning landscape reminiscent of the Apple Isle. Tumbarumba is a remote and pristine wilderness; A place of rare beauty. There is purity in the air and the crystal mountain waters, the dense bush land abundant with native wildlife. In this unique climate we craft wines of purity, expression and elegance that speak of their origin. There’s a delicacy and refinement that can only be achieved in a very cool climate. This is essential to make world class expressions of early ripening varieties such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Colchagua & Curico Valleys, CHILE

Panul means ‘hug’ in the language of the ancient indigenous inhabitants. Just as its name suggests, Panul wines are from select vineyard sites which hug the land from which they come from. The Colchagüa Valley is located on the southern slope of the Rapel Valley and has evolved in the last fifteen years from a quiet stretch of farmland to one of the largest and most active wine regions in the country. The relatively low elevation of the coastal hills allows the Pacific breeze to interact with the Andean winds, cooling the valley and prolonging the maturation period of the region which benefits the wine. The vast majority of the wine produced here is red, with a particular propensity for fine Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère, although recent plantations in the Curico valley near the coast have also proven excellent for cold climate white wines such as Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Founder and owner, Lindsay McCall, established the vineyard in 1985. He is lauded as one of the region’s handful of pioneers. He bought an old north-facing orchard and planted The Paringa vineyard. At an elevation of 140 meters it curls around the landscape like a vinous amphitheatre, sheltered from the harsh southwesterly winds. The deep, rich volcanic soils give power, flavour and structure to the wines. The vines are reaching their peak of maturity too, and this is a crucial factor in producing wine of the highest quality. The original Poggiotondo property was established in 1969 by Carlo Antonini in the Chianti DOCG district of Tuscany. Alberto Antonini, Carlo's son, has spent the past decade replanting the vineyards and transforming the property. Today Poggiotondo, meaning round hill, is owned and managed by Alberto.

The vineyards are situated on beautiful hills, just outside the town of Cerreto Guidi. Central Otago, NZ

Land that was once a high country sheep station is now a flourishing vineyard. Sheep and rabbits co-existed on the land for quite some time but the sheep couldn’t keep up with the nocturnal activity of the rabbits, and in the end were driven off the land. The original owner of the Rabbit Ranch; Mr McGregor tried a number of measures to rid the land of the rabbits at the turn of the century, but was unsuccessful. In the end he decided to plant some vines and make wine. The vineyard fell into decline after the second world war until direct descendants of Mr McGregor, Warren and Betty McGregor decided to replant the vineyard and as they say, the rest is history. Rabbits still run wild on the vineyard and fuelled by high altitude Pinot grapes, some are reputed to be the size of ponies – but that could be another tall story...

Valencia DO, and appellation situated on Spain's eastern (Iberian) coast is world famous for oranges and Paella, but is also the home of Radio Boka wines, a pioneer in the region's burgeoning wine scene. Margaret River, WA

The Rosily Vineyard was formed in 1994, when owners Mike and Barbara Scott and Ken and Dot Allan purchased a 60 acre cow paddock in the heart of the Margaret River wine region and set about fulfilling their dreams of producing world class wines. Cuttings were taken from vines growing just a few kilometres away at the acclaimed Moss Wood Vineyard and were planted in 1994 through to 1997.

From day one their philosophy has been quality at any cost, so for the first five years the focus was entirely on establishing the young vines to the point where they could last the long dry summers with minimal or no irrigation. During this time all fruit from the young vines was sold to the nearby Hay Shed Hill winery.

Shortly before the 2000 vintage it was realised that their fruit had reached a quality level deserving of its own wine - so a winery was built on the property and in their first small step into the world of wine marketing, they found themselves... a French navigator ...

Comte Francois de Rosily was a French navigator who in 1772 made the first chart of Flinders Bay in the south west of Western Australia. Scotchmans Hill is located on an extinct volcano named Mount Bellarine. Thick, black and fertile volcanic soils of black clay with basalt subsoil lend individual and intense characters to our wines. The estate vineyards are widely exposed to a cool maritime climate, moderated by Port Phillip Bay and strong, cool Antarctic winds. With moderate to low rainfall, crop levels are generally low due to climatic influence, resulting in small, high quality berries. Like all vineyards, there is a unique terroir encompassing the soil, climate and people. Derived from volcanic action, the basalt, black soils lend great depth and structure to wines. High in iron, these soils are unique to Scotchmans Hill, its immediate surrounds and the Bellarine Peninsula. Beechworth, VIC

In 2016, Raquel and Hugh Jones discovered a vineyard 10min out of Beechworth in north-east Victoria, neighbouring the likes of Giaconda and Castagna. It had immaculate 20 year old shiraz vines, planted in 1998, with fruit being sold to Yalumba (for a single-vineyard shiraz) as well as to smaller high-end producers. Retaining some of the shiraz, they have since added chardonnay as well as tempranillo, albariño, grenache and monastrell - a nod to Raquel’s Spanish heritage. All fruit is estate grown by Raquel using both biological and organic practices and entirely hand-harvested. Raquel makes her wines on-site, within 200m of the vineyard, using traditional, low-intervention winemaking, including the use of amphorae; allowing the fruit to speak for itself.

Clare Valley, SA

In 1973, Dr. John Wilson set out with soil map and sampling auger in search of a plot for his vines. The chosen land was some of the grazing slopes east of Sevenhill, Clare Valley, where he established 10 acres of vineyard between 1974 and 1976. The locals were bemused by this venture and were firm but kind with their advice about the unsuitability of the area for grapes. To that same handful of locals the little valley was known as Polish Hill River, a quaint tribute to its early pioneers.

In 1980 the vineyard produced its first commercial wine and with that Shiraz-Cabernet, wine consumers were introduced to this hitherto unknown corner of Clare. By then no-one had any doubts about the ability of Polish Hill River to produce fine wine. The Wilson family has been content to expand its operation slowly and steadily and is unfazed that most who followed them now cultivate larger tracts.

In 2000 John was one of the handful of Clare winemakers who led the screwcap revolution. Whilst many were hedging their bets John decided to dedicate his entire production, reds and whites, to the screwcap closure in 2001 and never looked back.

The Wilson Vineyard wines are produced entirely from estate-grown fruit. More than half of the production is Riesling, a variety with which both the Wilson name and Polish Hill River have become synonymous. Other varieties include Zinfandel, Tempranillo, Gewurztraminer, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The Wilson Vineyard Rieslings are powerful wines that take more than five years in the bottle to show their best.

Every year since 1988 The Wilson Vineyard has commissioned a local artist to produce a piece to adorn the Polish Hill River Riesling label. The exterior artwork compliments the art within.

Marlborough, NZ

Yealands Estate is based in the Awatere Valley to the south east of Marlborough's Wairau Plains. Their vineyard stretches from the foothills of the Seaward Kaikoura ranges to the bluffs overlooking Cook Strait on the east coast of Marlborough.

Back when Marlborough's wine industry started to gather momentum in the Awatere everyone thought the steep contours of these foothills were too challenging for viticulture. Everyone that is except Peter Yealand. He recognised that with careful development and clever thinking this terroir would produce great wine. In 2002 he began consolidating his vineyards here, extending his existing interests on the Wairau Plains with the development of some 950 hectares of rolling Awatere country which he terraced into vineyard blocks to create New Zealand's single largest privately-owned vineyard.
